Every August, the skies are decorated with the flashes of debris from the giant comet, Swift-Tuttel, as they enter the atmosphere. Because the debris enter the atmosphere at such a high velocity, most are completely vaporized before reaching the earth’s surace, creating bright flashes of life. The Persied Meteor shower is named after the constellation Perseus, which lies in the direction which they can be seen.

Although iron meteorites only account for about 5% of falls, iron meteorites are the most commonly found due to their distinct characteristics. Most likely originated in the cores of large asteroids, and are composed almost entirely of nickel-iron alloy, similar to the Earth's core.

Inspired by the annual Perseid meteor showers, these stud earrings feature a single genuine meteorite. This celestial stone has been cut and the pieces set within two interwoven bands, representing the astroid belts from which they came.
